We signed a lease!

It's official....we are moving to New Jersey! We signed the lease last night and will get our keys on May 4th. We are very excited!

While we will miss some aspects of living in Philadelphia, we are looking forward to living in a cleaner and more family-oriented neighborhood. Plus, 1/2 a mile from our house is the speedline. It only takes 15 minutes to get into Center City and for only $4 round trip (much cheaper than what we pay now for parking when we go to the city). So, we feel like we will be able to use the city just as much as we do now. Hopefully this will also mean that our friends in Philly won't think that we are too far away in Jersey to visit... :)

We found a house! (hopefully)

This past weekend, we set out on another of our house-hunting missions (too many to count in the past 3 months).  We were hopeful for this trip and also a little desperate, we are very ready to find a place and get settled.  So, we looked at three places on Saturday, and two of them could actually work.  The first home is a townhome that has been updated and has a huge fenced-in yard.  The only downside with this home is that the current tenants may not be able to move until June, which is a little too late for us.

The second house is a twin located in a cute neighborhood with tree-lined streets and sidewalks.  It even has a little main street with shops and restaurants.  The house is exactly what we are looking for: 3 bedrooms, basement, garage, hardwood floors, bigger kitchen (anyone who has seen our current kitchen understands the importance of this one), fenced-in yard, and lots of charm.  The couple who owns it is so nice and they have taken very good care of the place.

They let us know last night that the place is ours as long as our credits checks out.  Now, I know that we have good credit, but I am still nervous that it might somehow come back bad.  I am praying that everything goes okay because I REALLY want to live in this house.  If we get it, we will be moving the second weekend in May, which means, I need to start organizing and packing this place soon.

This is the listing of the house on craigslist, there aren't many pictures, but you can get an idea of the place.

Our weekend in Sunny Florida

This past weekend, Michael and I took a much need vacation to Florida to visit my family. We were lucky and were able to spend Thursday night to Monday morning there, so it was a nice long weekend. Top on our list of things to do was visit the beach. We have not seen the water since last summer (May/June, I think) and by the look of our skin we have not seen the sun since 1999. We spent Friday morning at the beach and both got a little sun. I got a little extra than Michael since I was stubborn and went without sunscreen (I know, I should know better). It was so nice; sunny, breezy, and warm. The water was way too cold for us to get in, but it was pretty to look at.

Some other things we got to do were: shop, eat Cuban food (I have missed plantains), walk in the Florida woods/wetlands (saw a gator and forgot how impressive they are), and ate at some great restaurants. We really enjoyed our time there and had a very hard time getting on the airplane this morning. Lucky for us, we have 3 more trips planned between now and graduation...we can make it!

The Best Meatball Sub You've Ever Had!

About a week ago (I know I'm behind in my posting), Michael made meatballs for Sunday dinner. He uses his Grandmother's recipe and they are the best meatballs I have ever tasted. For our leftover meal, we decided to have meatball subs. These were so yummy and HUGE! And believe it or not, we both cleaned our plates (not the best idea for those dieting)!
